Aminah Elster is a Black feminist abolitionist, advocate, researcher, and strategist whose work centers the leadership and expertise of directly impacted people to advance healing, justice, and systems change. She is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Unapologetically HERS (UAHERS), where she leads participatory research and professional development initiatives, including the Participatory Action Research Leadership Program, a fellowship equipping incarcerated women in California prisons to conduct research that informs advocacy and policy change. Aminah also serves as Leadership & Resentencing Coordinator at the California Coalition for Women Prisoners and is the CEO and Principal of Proximate Strategies Consulting, a community-centered strategy and research firm that partners with public systems, foundations, and organizations to co-design more equitable solutions. A certified paralegal, ICF Certified Professional Coach, and UC Berkeley graduate, she is also a contributing author to All This Safety Is Killing Us and co-author of the policy brief Criminal Record Stigma in the College-Educated Labor Market.
